Enough already with the “make the logo smaller.”, and “make the logo bigger.” Just make the logo the bloody size it needs to be and get on with it.

Oh I say. This is an idea that could totally help brands of all sizes ensure their most up-to-date logo is used. Should help with the common problem of using an older, and incorrect, company brand logo.
I can see this becoming particular useful when a company rebrands which often leads to many months, or longer, of the wrong logo being used and referenced by other websites.

Love this ‘for fun’ logo idea by Gert van Duinen which has really nice curves and a cheeky bit of negative space going on.

Am quite a fan of the existing/old green More4 logo designed by Spin—also on LogoStack—and brand identity so will be interesting to see how ManvsMachine plan to make this new logo work as part of the TV ident.
As a standalone logo I am not so sure right now; pretty colours are nice and all, but time will tell how it is worked in around the overall TV ident. Can’t help but feel that E looks a little lost whereas with the existing logo each letter was neatly contained.
Of course too soon to really cast opinions until one is able to see the whole identity in action.

It does seem a little odd to me that the logo would be released so early on without the supporting identity to… support it especially a logo that ideally needs context to be fully appreciated. I guess there is a plan afoot, or the plan is to see what the general feedback is on the logo? Trial by trial?
You can also download the existing More4 identity guide. Thanks to Richard Baird for the initial heads up.

Above is a logo concept created by Bill Dawson.
Bill was hired by Technicolour to design a logo for Millenium.
Logo concept was rejected.
A similar design was used in the trailer for Conan the Barbarian a few months later.
You can see the similar design below.

I conducted a scientific experiment, below, using overlays, and one can see just how similar it is.
Bill, presumably, slightly annoyed by this and seeking damages for copyright infringement and breach of contract.

Just to state this was a genuine email I received just a few days ago, and sadly are not all that uncommon. I have blacked out aspects to hide the client information.
These type of approaches, request for logo design pitches, are quite common with the email starting out reasonably encouraging. The snag is when they come to lay out their terms which then turns into a more insulting approach.
You might just be starting out as a freelancer or self-employed logo designer, and feel a sense of interest, curiosity or even pride at being picked out and approached to do some work.
Don’t fall for this sort of evil trickery. This isn’t comparable to Spec-Work, this is a whole new level below.
You are never in control, and you certainly run the high risk of seeing your design, or a variation of, used without seeing a penny for your efforts.
The best thing you can do is ignore and mark as Junk.

I understand, and fully appreciate, the idea behind trademark protection especially with big brand cases like Apple.
If a new company set up with plans to sell consumer related technology then one would be quite silly to use an apple of any kind as a brand mark. In this case we are talking a small German coffeehouse/child’s playroom that have used a red apple with a nice illustration within it.
Is this a tad OCD by Apple in protecting their brand.
They want to own anything Apple themed, and we also know they chase all sorts of trademark, and brand issues very aggressively, but a small German child’s playroom?

The London Sperm Bank Logo is part of the LogoStack collection.

The Köln Zoo Logo is a curious beast for sure. I love the negative space trickery, but not a fan of the little star.
Certainly not a fan of the typography. Something about expanded type with open tracking looks very wrong, and the red also looks a little out of place for me.
Personal gripe for the star and professional gripe for the open spacing.
I have a real soft spot for condensed typography like the new Ben Sherman logo created as part of the company’s rebrand by Brinkworth. To some it looks plain and boring, but to me it evokes a particular feeling that I find hard to fully describe.
As a standalone logo I really like it, but when you see it applied as a whole it takes on a new level of awesome.

It’s catching this removing your brand name from your brand mark. Turner Duckworth revitalises the famous Red Tag brand mark from Levis.
Personally not sure abou the Registered mark being cut off, but maybe when seen in context it will look perfect.
