Luminance is fast becoming my main go-to application for the tweaking of photograph’s on my iPhone. It has a wealth of controls that just beats Camera+ fair and square.

It was never an expensive app in the first place, but if you need a gentle nudge then grab it now.

I think I nearly shed a small tear watching this.

View Charley and Dylan’s Story http://carousel.ponyho.st The link may need a few minutes to get going, so be patient.

Carousel, by Johannes Wagener, is just the best idea I have seen in a while to do with Instagram. Getting your most precious Instagram photos in order so that Don Draper can do his Kodak pitch in synch with your photos.

Bet the person behind the camera wasn’t planning this for the photoshoot, unless… Unless it’s an inter planetary fire ray?

Alas, poor StormTrooper! I knew him, fellow StormTroopeer: a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy: he hath borne me on his back a thousand times; and now, how abhorred in my imagination it is! my gorge rims at it. Here hung those lips that I have kissed I know not how oft. Where be your gibes now? your gambols? your songs? your flashes of merriment, that were wont to set the table on a roar? Not one now, to mock your own grinning? quite chap-fallen? Now get you to my lady’s chamber, and tell her, let her paint an inch thick, to this favour she must come; make her laugh at that.

I have tried to find a descriptive title for this post, but failed. Truly a remarkable, and original, photograph. For you non believers this is a genuine photograph of a statue of Jesus upon high, and in the clouds.

First shoved this on Google+ back in October, but something reminded me of it yesterday.

Ensure you visit Oliver’s Flickr page and Favourite it as of right now it has been favourited 981 times.

timekiwi has to be the best looking photographic timeline I have seen. It’s been a real joy scrolling through my timekiwi timeline showing photos on Instagram, tumblr and Posterous.

I think I am tempted to just keep it limited to Instagram and send the link to my Mum as she loves looking at all my dog photos.

The timekiwi logo is super nice as well.

I see an opportunity to combine, and aesthetically update, these two tables  into one complete The Periodic Table of Modern Photography.

The first version was created by PhotoWeeklyOnline whilst the digital version was created by Paul Illsley.

A few people have asked me, after seeing my post on my new wooden studio desktop, where I sourced the desktop pattern as seen on my monitors.

I actually have no idea where it came from, other than it was a free texture website, as I have had it in my collection for ages, but adjusted it slightly to use as my double screen desktop image. On that note if you can shed any light on the origins of this image then please do let me know so I may add link credits.

If you want it you can download it below.

This is pretty cool. Apparently, this is the first recorded photograph of a surfer in Hawaii, 1890.

Will this set a new trend in minimal board-shorts?

Hard to see exactly the context, but I assume the man is disabled some how, looks like he is in a wheelchair. The reliance on a dog for assistance must be one of the deepest bonds between dog and human.

But that look on the dog, head to head, the man looking up slightly, as though he is saying something to the dog. Almost feels like he is somehow reassuring the dog, or certainly saying some words of comfort. Beautiful.

These actually look pretty good, some of the ‘cheaper’ SLR’s don’t have the robust magnesium bodies that the more expensive SLR’s have. This would have been ideal for my Egypt trip. Made by Camera Armor.

Last roll of Kodachrome shot and processed | MetaFilter

I grew up with film, getting my first camera with disposable flash blocks in my single digit years… now fascinated to hear that it was this last roll of Kodak film that took that pivitol image of Sharbat Gula ‘Afghan Girl‘.
