New in my Portfolio: Explainly – Explainer Videos Created Just for You


Explainly was a lovely little logo design project to work on in September 2018; the end result fully encapsulating what the client needed in the brand mark.

The logo mark fulfils several duties as can be seen in the image below, which shows the logical development of the logo mark.

Starting with 3 basic rectangles, I was able to fashion these into: the initial E, Directional Diagram Arrows,Text/Speech Bubbles with each of the 3 elements connected, in bright vibrant colours.

What is an Explainer Video? The History of Explainer Videos

An explainer video is a short animated video commonly used by businesses to quickly tell their brands’ stories in a memorable way.

In 2007, these videos started gaining popularity when the company Common Craft created one explaining how to use the new social media platform Twitter.

With it’s simple graphics and straightforward language, the video garnered nearly 10 million views and people understood how they could use Twitter, resulting in millions of users.

It ushered in the era of the explainer video. Since then, thousands of businesses big and small have found that incorporating a short, compelling video has helped them expand their brand presence.

Explainer videos work perfectly well for companies like Twitter, which provide services that may be very hard to describe in a clear and succinct way. However, they are also useful for any business with a message they want to be heard.
